I was thrilled to receive my copy of ‘The Art of Urban Sketching’ the other day.  It was a real honour to be one of the 100 artists featured in the book, and so lovely to have St Albans up there with Paris, London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney and all those marvellous places.

If you’re interested in buying the book it’s available here from Amazon at a very reasonable price.

St Michael’s Mount

st_michael's_mount
Aren’t churches at the top of islands the other side of a causeway enchanting? So St Michael’s Mount, Mont St Michel and Monemvasia are all places that I've been lucky enough to visit. Looking in wikipedia it seems as though if I’m ever fortunate enough to visit Japan  Itsukushima Shrine is a place I should make a point of visiting.

Coffee in Penzance

coffee_penzance
I liked the little heap of beach pebbles that had been made into napkin holders at the ‘At Source’ restaurant in Penzance. If I was a lady of leisure and trying to fill my days with activities I’d copy the idea and make some of my own.

Hugo, 18 tomorrow

My lovely son Hugo is 18 tomorrow. I’m hoping that this means less of the grunting monosyllabism that goes with being a teenager. Maybe  he’ll get up in the morning a picture of courteousness and charm something like this sketch, but run in reverse.
