Thinking about holidays

PORTHMEOR
Undoubtedly television this evening, like every New Year’s day, will be peppered with advertisements for sales and package holidays. So as I have yet to scan and post all my holiday sketches I’m going to add these to my blog to do my bit to promote beautiful Cornwall. On a sunny day the sea at St Ives really is this beautiful tropical island turquoise and with the vagaries of our weather all the more precious when it’s like this.

Cornwall. Fifty years ago I planned to go to Paris to paint and to Cornwall to pot. I never made either as I went to Fiji instead. One day... perhaps ... but I really can't see myself sitting in a plane for 20 hours or more to get there. Best wishes for the New Year.

Well I'd love to be going to Fiji for my holiday - but I have to make the best of what's here!

Best wishes to you and Peceli. I hope that the latest Fiji news turns out to be good news.

Cornwall is very dear to me, thanks to this painting by you and to others by Vivien Blackburn and Sarah Wimperis. I would so love to spend some time there, maybe some autumn, along the cliff walks and across the moors. annie

Hi Annie
It is a lovely spot and Vivien and Sarah have done a wonderful job of showing us. On our holiday I was delighted to see a painting by Sarah displayed in Falmouth museum. It felt like seeing an old friend!
