Sketching in the rain

st_michaels_school450px
This demonstrates the truth of the urban sketch. Even though the horse chestnut tree I had stood under to sketch this gem of a Victorian school building, had initially done a pretty good job of being an umbrella from the rain, in the end the rain proved too much. So my blurred, be-spattered watercolour tells you something about the downpour we had in St Albans this afternoon.

The watery splodges are incredibly charming. No doubt about the idea that random events add to meaning!

It's raining, it's pouring. What fun if it is summer.
It is cool here now - about 7 at night, 18 in the daytime. We picked up our youngest son at the Melbourne airport last night - arriving from Fiji in shorts - but bundled him into the car, shoving warm tops and pants towards him.
Fiji is about 22 at night, 29 in the daytime. So different.
