Hob salon

Hob salon, St Albans
In the moments between having my hair plastered with hair colour and having it washed, I quickly sketched the receptionists I could see in the mirror. This is a two storey building and this is the first time I’ve had my hair done downstairs. I suspect that upstairs was completely empty as in this economic climate so many of us are delaying having our hair done until our partners complain that they are sharing their life with a badger.

Julie, this is great! I would never have the confidence to draw in public (but there again I don't draw as well as you). Do you show the subjects?
Is this just ink? Or is there some kind of wash in some of the shadows? Did you do this in situ or later?
Hope you're pleased with your hair - I'm currently experimenting with full on badger!

Sarah I sometimes show them - if I think they might be interested. This is ink with a touch of grey watercolour. The ink was done in situ. I approve of full on badger - so much cheaper and I like the look, however everyone tells me I look better/younger not going grey and as I have a six year old I don't want to rub it in that he has the oldest mum.
