One that didn’t make the grade

blackrocksands
The standards are pretty low around here and so there aren’t many pictures that don’t make the grade for this blog, but this one done on the beach in Wales in August was one of them – even I thought it was pretty rubbish. However a day without a moment to create something new has meant I had to pull something out of the ‘Only scan and post when desperate’ pile.

I laughed at your "only post when desperate" pile. I have that pile too, and I drew from it today. Here's hoping for more luck over the weekend, for both of us.

PS-This painting has a nice sense of depth. I wouldn't consider it a "desperation" candidate.

I also like the painting very much and would't have had put into the pile of the "desperates" love your colors and just realised by skipping that you're the one with the fantastique watercolor colors!

I think some cropping could really lift this work - the colours and feeling of tension and movement, and the vitality of the broad strokes, are great, but perhaps the reason you're not happy with it is the composition. I'd send you an e-mail to show you what I mean, but I can't find an address for you on the blog. Still, I think it's a nice picture.

Word verification for this: "queside", which I thought was mildly apppropriate!)
