New Year’s Eve at the Crooked Chimney pub

crookedchimney
Robin and I had planned to slob out in front of the TV but after putting Xavier to bed we decided to spontaneously go out to a pub for a bit of couple time as we had some home-grown babysitters available. The pub was in the middle of the countryside so not a prime spot for New Year revels. However I think the staff – who had completely taken over all the best seats next to the only roaring fire in the building – were not best pleased at receiving any guests.

You just can't get the staff these days can you? ;)

Well not unless you grow your own!

I love the colours in this sketch. It's very 'Robin' as well.

This is Robin, the "we" who decided to go out was definitely just me. The last pub I spontaneously took Julie too has ceased trading, as had the first pub we tried last night (which Julie has visited). Julie is a delight but not for pub landlords!
All that said as a non drinker we don't actually go to pubs much, I guess when we do it's memorable and hence the pictures.

Nice way to spend the evening, though the staff sound a bit 'off'. Though it is summer here, we actually have had the gas heater on. It is little more than 20 degrees each day. Grey skies and a little rain. It should be over 30!
