Lunch with Robin at the Old Chequers pub

We drove to Oxford this morning to pick up all of Flo’s things. She isn’t allowed to leave her stuff in the halls of residence over the holidays as the colleges make a small fortune renting out the rooms for conferences*. She’s visiting friends over the weekend so we’ll have her home on Monday.

*and unfortunately sometimes to bogus ‘universities’ like this one, who use photographs of the facilities to make their websites seem credible

I bet it will be great to have her home. How have you handled losing your big girl?

She's been great at keeping in touch with texts and phone calls and knowing that she has such long holidays has made it easy. Next year though, she's in a shared house which means she won't be home anywhere near as much so that'll be a bit tougher

In the right way I mean this: This one has the feeling of a panel from a graphic novel. My favourite part? Thanks for asking. The beautiful way you've captured the light on the bald spot of the one man and the side of the other's face.

What a lovely warm portrayal - that term was over quickly.

Thank you Owen.
Alison, both Oxford and Cambridge have shorter more intense terms than all the other UK universities. As I mentioned they do make a lot of money renting out their buildings so I suppose that might be one reason for having shorter terms.
