Whistling Sands Beach, Wales

whistlingsandsspread
The one sunny day we had in Wales. Everyone trying to get the sand to whistle and failing to hear even a squeak.

These beach pictures are fantastic Julie. I do love to see ordinary scenes depicted in a sketchbook and it always conjurs up the feeling of being there again doesn't it? Much more so than any photo - for me anyway!

I never got any sands to whistle-- what do you do to make that happen?
Josephine Tey spoke of "singing sands" in Scotland in one of her books. Has anyone ever heard THAT?

Goodness knows Annie. Apparently this beach makes a noise (whistle?) as you walk over the sands because of the precise size and consistency of the grains – but it didn't happen for us.
