Waiting to swim
A busy week. Dinner for the parents at Flo’s college – how fortunate that we get to share a little in what it will be like for her. Producing three blue paintings for a show to raise money for this exhibition. And today, Xavier, waiting by the pool for his turn to be helped with backstroke. He lifts his head out of the water and his feet sink. When I suggest that it might work better if he put his head back he says he needs to keep his head up so that he can see where he is going.

It's so important that little kids learn to swim as soon as possible. Our kids just learnt from their cousins as we lived beside the sea when they were little. when they were school age we lived in a town that got to about 40 degrees most days in summer, so we went to the town swimming pool nearly every day.
Our grandkids (in Fiji) love swimming especially the little six year old girl who does a great snake kind of swimming stroke - and others. She's fortunate to have her own backyard pool. It's a different generation!

But of course!
Tell him butterfly is easier for being able to see where you're going plus you get to do scary monster shapes at the same time!
Gosh - is it time for the big trip to Oxford?
What a great picture - I feel like i was there!
