Foreign language

mathstalk
I have at last reached the point where my children patronise me (in the kindest possible way) by explaining everything vaguely scientific or technical in words of one syllable. Anyway, although I am 50 tomorrow I have in the last month taught myself how to send text messages on my shiny new mobile ’phone. You never know, I’ll be programming the TV recorder and driving on motorways next.

Your blog appeared in my weekly Google Alert on "foreign language" (I'm a teacher of modern foreign languages.) What a fun blog! The sketches are really fun to look at and the posts are short enough to keep me engaged. What you put in the speech bubble made me think more deeply about these 2 classroom practices and whether they *really* accomplish what we intend for them to as we work with students. Thanks!

Happy Birthday Julie! (I learned last month how to text (I think!) but it takes so long it's quicker to call!)
