Dawn in Astrous

This is a perfect demonstration of why you should never attempt to paint a sunrise or sunset.

The sun rising above the horizon just adds movement to the painting *grin*. Actually, I really like this a lot!

No worries!
It is strange that when we are on holidays we take notice of the sun rising and the sun setting but when we are in our ordinary lives, we take these recurring moments for granted, and don't even look! There is always something magical though when we sit still and intently notice the changes in the sky, land or sea.

Alison, to me it looks trite, cliched and nothing like the beauty of the moment. But nevertheless it still reminds me of the time. I also tried experimenting with a overpainting alayer of white gouache (for the flecks of gold) which was a bit of a failure
