Illustration Friday - SONG
A preliminary rough of something that’s been stewing in my mind for the last week. I was thinking of self-publishing an illustrated book of ‘There was an old woman who swallowed a fly’, because it’s one of Xavier’s favourite songs. However I think the words of the song are still under copyright so it looks like I’m going to have to do my own version. If you add any suggestions for further verses in the comment box, please do so on the basis that you’re freely giving them to me to use if I want to!

no suggestions for further songs, but i love your drawing!
The drawing is great and so is the idea. I would like to see how it developes.
OH MY what a wonderful sketch and idea!! YES YES YES!!! I can just see it as a children's book!! GO FOR IT!
Thank you for the encouragement. Now - if I can ever find the time!
Wonderful and terribly amusing!
I can't think of any other verses, either, but this is hilarious! (Especially following the previous two posts of naked men ... is THAT what happened to their clothing???)
:-D
I think if the author has been dead for over 50 years you are not subject to copyright. But I prefer your slant - much funnier!
Rachel
Linda you're right, all this time drawing naked old men is going to be so helpful for the final illlustration in the book!
Rachel I googled but found conflicting information on whether it was traditonal or written in the 1930's - but it provides a creative opportunity NOT using the original.
What a great illustration! I particularly like the way you've drawn the man's hand. I've never eaten tiepie :)
how about "There was an old lady who lived in a loo"
Rachel
There was an old man who swallowed some Tide,
That bubbled and foamed and blurpled inside,
He swallowed the Tide to wash the tie,
I don't know why he swallowed his tie,
Perhaps he'll die (a fashion victim).
Ta da.
Rachel he's a man with a tie, I need the subsequent lines.
Rramone (and why aren't you called Willie?) I love it.
Julie, it is feb 09...did you ever finish this charming book?
