Illustration Friday - SURPRISE or Midwich cuckoo

He moved before I could draw his eyes. The sweetness of the mouth and those empty unfinished irises gave the drawing a creepy sci-fi look which reminded me of John Wyndham’s novel. Come to think of it I’m an elderly mother like many of the mothers in the book and he was the biggest surprise of my life…

It's the eyes that draw me into this sketch.
How different someone would look with piercing yellow eyes.
Beautiful and intriguing illustration

Toni, reading 'Midwich Cuckoos' I was fascinated by the description of those golden-eyed beautiful children.

Rachel, you know they all have their 'monster'moments, just to make you appreciate the pleasure of the 'angel' moments.

Thank you Tony and Jaime. Regarding the baby faces, of course I always have one unwilling model to practice with!
