Illustration Friday - HOLIDAY

No time this week for a new illustration, so this is a painting I produced several years ago of the layers of shipping labels that had accreted over the years on the huge green trunks of my childhood which you can see over here.

This is so coloful - it makes me think of a thick forest of pine trees. I laughed out loud at your "Black & White" drawing and post! Nuns really did seem that huge and imposing when I was a child at Catholic school. I am glad I wasn't sent to boarding school like my grandmother - she was sent away to the nuns at five, and she used to tell me how it broke her heart to leave home at such a young age. I can't imagine...Anyway, I love both pieces for many reasons. I also want to say that I have so enjoyed all your beautiful artwork and their fascinating commentaries...I'm looking forward to more in the coming year. Happy New Year!

Carla thank you so much. I am so grateful to Illustration Friday for getting me going. Almost every illustration on my blog would not have happened unless I'd had the initial spur of IF to get me to start a blog. I find it difficult to carve out the time to devote to this but my life is richer with all the work I have done and with the glimpses of other lives and creativity that I've seen through all the wonderful blogs I've come across in blogland.
