So what do you think?

I drew this for the Every Day Matters Challenge – ‘Shoes’.

But then I thought I'd try adding some colour

I'm not sure which I prefer, what do you think?

the colored ones, such cute little shoes... and the quality of the drawing is excellent! :)

I really like both. The colored one, of course, communicates the materials ie. latex rubber(?) soles, leather(?) and cloth strings, so well. The uncolored one, I appreciate more for your sketching technique. Both are wonderful!

I agree about the b/w showing wonderful technique, but as a finished piece, something really memorable, the color makes it!

I think I prefer the colored one too...but I really do like just the ink sketch as well. Very nice work. Thanks for sharing it. Are you going to add color to the drawing in your journal?

Oh, you have to go and make it hard on us, don't you! These are both great -- I really like the ink-only one best, though.

Well Linda it looks you're in the minority. Julie it will stay black and white in the journal because adding any wet medium on this lumpy hand made paper will, I think, just make the pages fall apart.

Thank you all for looking and commenting.

I love the drawings, especially the colored one. They brought back my days of little boys in chunky boots. Now they are both grown and I have a sweet 2-year-old granddaughter ~ with entirely different footwear.

Julie, both are fabulous, I can't choose.

I like them both! But the colors add some "umph" to the BW drawing that makes it look a lot nicer. I like the highlights on the boots the best. They make the boots really "alive".
PS. Glad that the link thingy works.

Love them both, but have to agree that the colour makes it "pop" even more. Such character in this!
