Illustration Friday - AQUATIC preliminary drawings
As a child I was enchanted by Charles Kingsley's 'Water Babies'. This together with a couple of great reference photos of Xavier underwater is what triggered this idea.
I'm off to buy gummed tape so I can stretch the water colour paper. I've had so much on this week that I don't think I'll get the full colour version of my illustration done in time so this will have to do.

Oooo... I love the spare, elegant, fluid feel of this. It's beautifully drawn and slightly spooky... just like the original water babies! Bravo!

I love the sketches in the bottom scan especially! Very cute and nicely done.
I wonder if my little kiddo would like to try his hand at swimming. I better look into a class or something. :)
This is adorable! Wonderful composition too. It would look amazing painted on a huge wall.
Thanks for your kind comments. Danidoodle, you need to get the classes booked early because babies lose their natural reflex to hold their breath after about 6 months.
