Pottering around St Albans

I’m not a ‘lady who lunches’, but I can see the attraction. Yesterday Xavier and I decided to stay in town after filling the car boot with the week’s fruit and vegetables – and very enjoyable it was too.

I love your ink drawings--they are so expressive! I like the variety you get in your lines and wonder what pens you used on these. Also, on the sea drawings it looks like maybe a brush or felt tip pen?

Pens - well a variety. I have happily used some disposable ink pens and I also have a vey expensive Namiki Falcon ink pen (don't even think about it, it's so expensive!) However the problem with expensive ink pens is that they can't use permanent ink as it screws up the nib, so you then can't add watercolour if you fancy doing so. So I recently bought a 4 pack of of 4 different size Faber Castell Pitt artists pens so that I have the watercolour option. I think the paper one uses makes a lot of difference as well. The sea drawings were a pentel ink brush pen which I love.

These are nice! You must work on the eating and drinking breaks for sketching - they're very addictive! ;)
